William T. Wood, 82, of Beaverton, Oregon, passed away on March 13th, 2026. Bill was born in Portland, Oregon on August 30, 1943.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa, and his son, Shawn Wood. He is also survived by his beloved granddaughters Lucia and Francesca Wood, his sister Diana Poorman, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Will H. Wood and Dorothy D. (Taylor) Wood, and his brother Joseph F. Wood.
He graduated from Grant High School and went on to Oregon State University, receiving both a bachelor's and master's degree. He was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity and served as House Manager during his junior year at OSU.
He was employed by the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, holding the position of Commander of Inmate Programs, where he received numerous awards for initiating progressive correctional programs. He retired in 1999 after 32 years of service.
He and Teresa traveled widely. He most enjoyed his travels throughout Mexico, capturing the cities, people, and culture through his photography.
He was a lifelong volunteer serving his credit union, the West Beaverton Neighborhood Association Committee, the City of Beaverton, Washington County, and the Beaverton School District. He was most proud of his founding of the "Pages as Pillars" program in 2009, which provided free books for elementary school students. The program delivered over 10,000 books to Beaverton elementary school students.
Cremation services were provided by Westside Cremation and Burial Services of Beaverton, Oregon. Per his wishes, there will be no funeral services.
