Velma Davis Obituary

VELMA MAE DAVIS

October 14, 1928 - December 4, 2017

Velma "Mae" Davis began her long and happy life when she was born in Lampasas, Texas to Eugene Francis Trussell and Lou Anna Griffin Trussell, the youngest of six children. As a child she traveled with her parents to Oregon, settling in Hillsboro. She moved back to Texas and graduated from high school there. After attending business college in Oklahoma with her sister, she moved back to Hillsboro, Oregon. She worked for various businesses as an accountant/bookkeeper. She became the assistant to the hospital administrator and accounting supervisor at Tuality Hospital, a job she loved. She made many friends during her years there and attended their monthly retiree luncheons until she was no longer able. Through the years she helped family and friends with accounting until shortly before she passed.

She married Horace M. "Dave" Davis in 1950. They lived in Hillsboro until moving to Dilley in 1992. She remained there until her death. After retirement she and Dave bought a motor home, one of several they owned over the years. They traveled across the US visiting family, friends and just sight-seeing. Her favorite trips were to family reunions in Texas and New Mexico. She also enjoyed going on adventures with the motor home full of grandkids.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two step-sons, Glenn and Jimmy Davis.

Mae was a wonderful mother to her three children who survive her, Rhonda, David and Dan Davis. She was an amazing grandmother to her 9 grandchildren: Rich, Katherine, John, Jenny, Michele, Kevin, Jessica, Glenda, and Marc and her 15 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind several special nieces and nephews.
