Sandra E. Robinson, aged 75, passed away October 26th, 2019.
Sandra was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and grew up near San Diego. She graduated from Vista High School and went on to earn her degree from San Diego State.
Sandra relocated to Beaverton, Oregon in 1978 where she spent many years working as a supervisor for U.S. West. She was a devoted mother to her two sons and was president of the Babe Ruth Baseball League in Aloha. She was whip-smart and loved a robust political discussion. She was also a breast cancer survivor.
The birth of her first grandchild in 2000, created the perfect excuse for retirement and a move to Seattle. Becoming a grandparent was easily her favorite accomplishment.
She volunteered on the home-owners association at Sundance Park in Redmond Washington and continued her service as Chairperson of the resident’s association at The Ackerly after her move to Portland three years ago.
Being close to her Oregon granddaughters while enjoying her new friends and activities at The Ackerly made the move a perfect choice for Sandra. She was very happy there and that gives us solace. She particularly enjoyed the painting classes.
Sandra was preceded in death by her brother Eric Smeland, her father Stan Smeland and her mother Cynthia Lovejoy.
In addition to her two sisters, Lauren Parry and Liz Byrnes, Sandra is survived by her two sons Tony (Julie) of Clyde Hill and Nolan (Cindy) of Portland, her treasured grandchildren Jackson, Rian, Natalie and Courtney and her canine companion Molly.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Lupus Foundation of America.
A celebration of life will be held at The Ackerly, 11795 NW Cedar Falls Drive, Portland, OR 97229, on November 29th from 1-3pm, (503) 350-3400.
