Michael died at home March 19, 2025. He is survived by his sister Lois Watt (Rick), his companion dog Pip, and aunts, uncles, cousins and many good friends.
Michael was born July 25, 1958, to Pete and Edie Mortensen who preceded him in death. Waiting at the Rainbow Bridge is his beloved service dog Nola.
Michael is now free to do the things he loved: hiking, golfing, scuba diving and most of all skiing. One of the highlights of his life, for him, was volunteering on the downhill course at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics.
After high school he trained to be an auto mechanic but found his true calling later in computer programming. He loved solving complex problems and took pride in writing effective and efficient code.
He was a student of politics until recently and delighted in having conversations about the events in the world and country. He considered the first four seasons of West Wing the best TV ever written. He was a Past Master Councilor or R. W. Moore Chapter, Order of DeMolay. He had a wickedly dry sense of humor and was quietly generous to causes important to him.
