Jean Allen Eveleth, nee Jean Tudor Allen, a resident of Lake Oswego, OR, and previously of Naples, FL, Tucson, AZ, Plattsburgh and Chazy, NY, died peacefully of natural causes on September 1 at the age of 88.
Jean was born in 1933 in Cleveland, OH, where she graduated from Shaker Heights High School. She earned her degree in fine arts from the University of New Hampshire after briefly attending Ohio University, and she pursued her career teaching art in the Plattsburgh public school system.
Jean was an accomplished and prolific artist, creating dozens of paintings with subjects ranging from family to travels, nature, and scenes from her homes. Her creative energy rarely took a pause as she progressed from one craft project to the next, transforming everyday objects into whimsical sculptures. Together with her husband Bill, and their wide circle of friends old and new, she thrived around people. Always concerned about others, she was generous and kind, passionate about nutrition, healthy living, and the outdoors, keeping active with hiking, biking, and tennis.
Jean was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Bill Eveleth of Lake Oswego, and by her sisters, Helen Roberts of Boulder, CO, and Mary Converse, of Brandenton, FL. She is survived by her children, Katy Goss and son-in-law Ken Gerber, of Coventry, CT; Bill Eveleth, III, and daughter-in-law, Barbara Eveleth, of Montclair, NJ; Bob Eveleth and daughter-in-law Evelyn Eveleth, of Lake Oswego; 6 nieces and nephews and 7 grandchildren, and extended family.
