Richard A. Kadell, Jr.
1950 - 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of Richard A. Kadell, Jr., known to his friends as “Rick” must announce his passing on June 12, 2018. He was surrounded by his children when he lost his battle with Graft vs Host Disease. A complication caused by his liver transplant at the age of 68.
Rick was born at Jones Hospital in Hillsboro, Oregon on January 24, 1950. He graduated from Banks High School in 1968 and joined the Army shortly after. He served in Vietnam until 1970 and then was a member of the Army Reserves until 1974.
Rick worked as a line operator for Carnation Can for over twenty years before becoming a shipping manager at Key Lithograph and then a Soldermaster at TTM Technologies. He enjoyed woodworking in his spare time as well as helping out others in need. During the summer you could often find him growing cherry tomatoes and other vegetables out in his garden.
Rick is survived by his children, Angela (Brian) Keller of Cornelius, Richard Kadell III of Forest Grove, Jennifer (Michael) Johnson of Seattle, WA and Jessica (Lalo) Whitney of Scappoose. He had 10 grand-children and 1 great-grand-child. He is also survived by his siblings, Donna, Vernon, Luann, Joann and Roger, plus many nieces and nephews, as well as extended family and friends. Rick is preceded in death by his parents Richard & Melita Kadell as well as his brother Michael.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge in Cornelius on Saturday August 11th, 2018 at 12:30pm. Rick will have his ashes spread in a private tree planting ceremony for his kids at his home in Forest Grove. Cremation arrangements have been handled by Westside Cremation.
As an expression of sympathy to honor Rick, please help someone in need. He would have wanted it that way, since he didn’t want us all to fuss over him and could never pass up helping someone else out. The family of Richard A. Kadell, Jr. wishes to thank the many Nurses and Doctors who fought so hard for Rick during his time of need.
