Remembering Loved Ones... Gary was born on October 30th, 1949 in Vancouver, WA. He was one of the four children of Rudy and Marcelle (Hume) Meyer. He was raised in Helvetia, OR. Attended West Union grade school and Hillsboro High School having been a graduate from the Class of 1967.
Gary served his country in Vietnam 1968-1969 as a member US army 82 Airborne Division, Sgt. Tech 4, followed by 173 airborne Brigade.
Gary met his future wife Debbie Phillips at a mutual friends wedding. They were united in marriage on February 5th, 1977 in Laurel, OR. Following their marriage they made their home in Aloha. In 1980 they moved to their current residence in Helvetia.
He worked in the electrical industry for the majority of his life. Finished out his career at Global Electric in North Plains.
Gary was first and foremost a great father to his three children and a devoted husband to his loving wife, Debbie. Gary was also a magnificent grandfather to his grandson. He enjoyed camping, fishing, playing horse shoes and BBQ's with his family and friends. Gary also enjoyed rodeo's especially bull riding which was one of his favorite events. He loved the outdoors and took great pride in farming his family's fields.
He is preceded in death by his father; Rudy, and two brothers; Kevin Meyer and Leroy White.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Debbie of the family home, three children and their spouses; Gary and Sirena Meyer of Forest Grove, OR, Jesse and April Meyer of Helvetia, OR, Amanda Meyer, and Nathan Woodword of Helvetia, OR, and two grandchildren; Grady and Ally, and another on the way.
