Rosemary Hoppes Obituary

Rosemary (Babe) Margaret Hoppes of Beaverton passed away at age 95, on April 7, 2023 of natural causes. 

Rosemary was born on March 22, 1928 to James and Rose Walsh in Great Falls, Montana.  She was raised in Great Falls, Montana and graduated from St Mary’s.  Rosemary was the oldest of six children.  In 1943, she met her future husband William Hoppes.  William and Rosemary were married on September 17, 1946 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Great Falls, Montana. William and Rosemary soon began a family that included Steve, Janet, Charles, Loren, and Craig.  Rosemary raised their kids as William worked on the farm in Montana and began his educational career.

Throughout William’s educational career, their family lived in many different places including Sunburst, Inverness, Fort Benton Montana, Wapato, Spokane, Renton, Kennewick Washington and Beaverton Oregon. 

Along with raising her kids, Rosemary was a long time Librarian at the public library in Wapato, Washington.

Throughout her life she was always a dedicated member of the Catholic Church.

Rosemary was known to have a soft soul and treated everyone with respect.  She gained many friendships in her later years in the different places she resided.

Rosemary was a strong supporter of the activities of her children and grandchildren.  She participated in and was at many grandchildren's events.  She always looked forward to the next family milestone which included birthdays, weddings, and grandchildren being born. 

Rosemary is preceded in death by her parents James and Rose Walsh, husband William Hoppes, son Steve Hoppes, sister Dolores (Bunky) Albrecht, brother Robert Walsh, and Aunt Margaret Walsh.

She is survived by her sisters Barbara Remus and Suzie Walsh and one brother Mike Walsh.  Along with her siblings she is survived by her children, Janet Steinback (Ralph) Astoria,Oregon, Charlie Hoppes (Terri) Richland, Washington, Loren Hoppes (Joan) Beaverton, Oregon, Craig Hoppes, Astoria, Oregon and daughter-in-law Judi Hoppes, LaCenter, Washington.  She had 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the caring staff at Hearthstone in Beaverton, as well as Tenderly Hospice.
